Get More Sleep

Getting adequate rest every night is one of the simplest and most dramatic ways to improve body composition. Getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night by establishing a consistent sleep schedule should be a staple daily goal – including a nap during the day will further accelerate the benefits on body composition. Not getting enough or poor quality sleep will lead to increased inflammation in your body, which is associated with multiple health complications such as insulin resistance, chronically elevated cortisol and reductions in testosterone and growth hormone production. If living a long, healthy, happy life with a great physique is high on your priority list I suggest you re-evaluate the importance of sleep.

What constitutes a good nights sleep? 7-8 hours unbroken hours is the gold standard that seems to work best for the majority of people. If you are currently below this standard or consider yourself a poor sleeper, here is my favourite combination of supplements for a restful nights sleep:

  1. Magnesium – 2000mg
  2. Vitamin D3 – 5000IU
  3. Melatonin – 5mg

Take these three together about 45-60 minutes prior to your scheduled bed time and enjoy a better nights sleep.
